Matthew Howie
Writer & DirectorMatthew Howie is a UK based student currently in his fourth and final year studying for a BA Honours degree in Film & Television at Edinburgh University (ECA). He recently completed a work placement at the Oscar winning Aardman Features on their newest production ‘Shaun the Sheep’. For the past few years he has cemented his love for the craft by creating dramas, promos and documentaries for college & University courses. He has also participated in extra curricular projects, such as filming the showcase of a local artist as he revealed his photography to the world, writing and directing a music video for an Edinburgh based Hip Hop group, and making short films in his spare time.

CALLUM MILLER
Costume DesignerCallum is currently in his second year studying Performance Costume at Edinburgh College of Art. Callum has experience working on short films and working in a team. Being a guy who sews for a living means he has attention to detail and hopes to bring this to the clothing seen in Roxy Smiles.

RAFAEL REIS
Co-ProducerRafael Reis came all the way from Brazil to pursue a BA Honours degree in Film an TV at the University of Edinburgh. He is currently in his first year but has already worked in several films both before and after he began his studies. Having a taste for films that are both visually and thematically interesting, he is excited to be part of Roxy Smiles.

GLEN SHEPHERD
Location ManagerGlen is a film student currently in his 3rd year of undergraduate studies at Edinburgh College of Art. Throughout his years on the courses he has assisted in the making of several films in a variety of roles in addition to producing and directing his own shorts. As location manager on Roxy Smiles he is looking forward to finding the right places that will really sell the world that seedy and gritty Matt has created in the script.

CHEERY NG
Production DesignerCheery Ng is an Edinburgh based Singaporean Filmmaker studying Film & TV Production in Edinburgh College of Art. She is passionate about cameras, puppies and point-and-click Adventure games. Cheery was drawn to the Roxy Smiles for its highly retro, dingy, and a little edgy look, and looks forward to hoarding a bunch of neon signs to give it the gaudiest, raunchiest look that only a film like that could pull off with character.

CARA MACDONALD
costume designerCara is an Edinburgh born 2nd year student at the Edinburgh College of Art. She is aiming to get a BA in Performance Costume and has worked on a few short films and various theatre productions over the last few years. She is looking forward to working alongside Callum to produce Matt's vision of the dark and gritty themes in Roxy Smiles.

MARGARITA PAPATHANASIOU
GafferComing from Greece, Margarita is a first-year film student at the Edinburgh College of Art. She has been involved in a few short films where teamwork was vital. Margarita is looking forward to be a gaffer at ‘Roxy Smiles’ as lighting along with cinematography will convey the emotional state of the characters with the power of visuals.

Jack Lees
2nd Assistant CameraFrom Northern Ireland, currently a second year Film & TV undergraduate at Edinburgh College of Art. He has worked on a number of surreal drama graduation productions in hands on roles and has aspirations to become a highly skilled DOP. He loves being on set and looks forward to playing his part in making what he feels will be a very intriguing and gritty film.

Esther Stevenson Conroy
Production Design and MakeupEsther Stevenson Conroy is currently studying Film and TV at Edinburgh College of Art. After finishing a Fine Art Foundation Degree she is now pursuing her Film career. She has been involved in productions both in the UK and the Netherlands and is looking forward to the challenges that Roxy Smiles faces. As an avid horror and thriller fan she is particularly excited to be working on this production and adding her own creative input into the film.

Georgia Middlemiss
Co-ProducerGeorgia comes from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and is an undergraduate Film and Television student at the University of Edinburgh. She has previously been involved in a documentary academy supported by Made by Northern Stars, and as a result of this made Closure, a film that won Best Professionally Supported Factual Film at the Royal Television Society's North East & The Border Center Young People's Media Festival in 2016. She is currently working on productions and her own short films to gain experience and further her knowledge. She hopes that as producer, she can help Matthew in creating a film which lives up to his fresh and exciting vision and creates a world within the film that both surprises and enthrals everyone watching.

Kitty McMurdo-Schad
Kitty McMurdo-Schad is an undergraduate student at the Edinburgh College of Art studying Film and Television. After leaving school and working in London for a year as a freelance videographer, Kitty returned to Edinburgh to pursue a more creative education in the vibrant surroundings of ECA. She's interested in abstract, art house cinema and was attracted to Roxy smiles because of the dirty, feminist, neon vibes it gives off
